Twin Lakes Beaches is located on the shores of Lake Manitoba in the Rural Municipalities of St. Laurent and Woodlands about one hour from Winnipeg. It is home for over 300 residents.
It is situated on a natural isthmus, dividing Lake Francis and Lake Manitoba.
The earliest records of settlement began in the early 19th century, Metis families settled in St. Laurent, on the shores of Lake Manitoba where natural resources sustained them in fishing, hunting, and agriculture. Commercial fishers carry on those traditions.
Recreational activities include boating, year-round fishing, swimming and golf at the local Manipogo course. A park on land donated by the Meindl family offers beach access to families.
The Twin Lakes Beach Association was formed to discuss current issues and problems in and around the beach as well as supporting and lobbying of Municipal, Provincial and Federal governments. The devasting man-made flood of 2011 caused the evacuation of families and massive rebuilding in the area. The resiliency of home owners and support of local volunteers have brought our community back stronger than ever.
