RESULTS OF OUR FIRST MEETING:
- Committee met Tues. June 14th
- Established our name to be Twin Lake Beach Flood Action Committee
- Elected chairman….Dennis Turek
- Committee Members are: Garry Grubert, Fred Pisclevish, Jack King, Andy Zubrycki, Sherral Lillies, Matthew Lamb, Mario Lebar
- Adopted our Mandate to be: To investigate and take action on the two options generated at Sunday’s Mtg. to Fundamental Question #1 What options are acceptable to you as affected property owners?
- OPTION #1 STAY AND REBUILD,
- OPTION #2 BUY-OUTS
ACTION TO OPTION #1
- Developed a Template for membership to use to contact their MLA’s , MP’s and Steven Harper (Template will be emailed along with links that show who your reps. Are at the different levels of gov. by tomorrow).
- We will proceed as a first step by trying to arrange a mtg. with the Reeves of the two RM’s to discuss our conditions for returning to the Lake and Rebuilding (ie: lowering lake levels, improvement to access roads, construction of protection from waves at the front of our properties, compensation) The RM’s will then join us and assist us in gaining access to the Prov. Gov. both NDP and Conservative to move these Conditions Forward.
ACTION TO OPTION #2
- Our next mtg. will be a one item Agenda Topic: We will meet with a lawyer to discuss what the legalities are of our situation and what suggestions they have and advise for us to move-forward and be prepared if the Province chooses to buy all or some of us out.
OTHER ACTIONS:
- The committee strongly agrees that a current Appraisal of your properties is urgent. Especially those of you who still have bldgs that are untouched or received minor damage:
- The cost of an appraisal is approx. $275 plus GST. Plus mileage which would be shared if we can generate a schedule for one day. ie..all properties on Twin Lake Beach Rd. North on one day, Then Lots 1 to 50 the next and so on. Please email your name and lot# and contact info. to Dennis Turek @dturek@mymts. net if you would like to be put on a list for an appraisal.
