THE LATEST IN MANITOBA
• The province’s long-awaited march to reopening began Wednesday when Premier Brian Pallister announced a handful of restrictions would be relaxed beginning Monday, May 4. The first phase allows retail stores, outdoor sports venues such as golf courses, hair salons and restaurant patios to reopen, subject to certain physical-distancing guidelines that will remain. Non-essential health services, such as physiotherapy and dental, will also be permitted. Specific requirements for each are in place. Phase 2, which would expand the list to include dine-in restaurants and expanded public gatherings, won’t begin until June 1 at the earliest, and could be delayed, the premier said.
