The annual meeting was held this morning and attended by roughly 40 members. It was noted that some at risk members did not attend out of concern for the pandemic.
A new executive was elected: Frank Clarke, president
Will Jones, vice-president
Bob Cox, treasurer
Robert Barnes, secretary
Prior to the election our out-going past-president appealed to younger members to keep involved be it through the executive positions or by working on ad hoc groups on specific events and activities.
Harry Frederick, president of Sandpiper Beach Association, gave a presentation on Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP). The program encourages reporting and having heightened awareness of suspicious activities, traffic and other concerns.
The timing of the program presentation seemed appropriate given concerns voiced at the meeting: quads on roads and the beach, speeding vehicles as well as a number of issues relating to Meindl Park.
The executive was instructed by motion to develop regulations for the Park that would help create a safer, more orderly space for the public.
The membership was encouraged to complete forms circulated on the website, ALMS and Facebook to become an active part of the class action lawsuit. No ‘buy in’ is collected. Any business, residence or farm affected by the flood of 2011 is eligible to recoup damages. For seasonal residents who were limited in claims – this is your opportunity to get back the money so unfairly withheld.
