The article appeared on MSN gives an overview of flooding and mitigation but understates the issue of more water able to be diverted into Lake Manitoba than is able to outflow. It would be good occasionally to have an acknowledgement that along with Lake St. Martin, communities south suffered loss and displacement in 2011 as well. Surprisingly there is no financial cost attributed to the most recent floods on Lake Manitoba which conservatively is approaching $2 billion. It fairly defines the current delay resting with the federal regulatory approval process. Until the Lake Manitoba – St. Martin channels are completed the government should not be confident in current flood mitigation.
