* The Manitoba government has declared a state of emergency for the Lake St.
Martin area to allow for urgent work to provide for flood-protection works
required to protect the health and safety of residents and protect properties in
the area. The state of emergency is effective today.
I believe this is to expidite the digging of the new channel. Two contractors are
working on site in an exploratory capacity on each side of the Dauphin River and
the province is doing drilling on test sites.
