Local State of Emergency
The Province has extended the Local State of Emergency for St. Laurent and Woodlands until December 20. The significance of the extension is that security remains in effect. The method may evolve with more road and lake patrolling with some areas like ours retaining the checkpoint system. The Association has requested clarification from the Premier regarding the end of the state of emergency. While we have not had his response, we have some clarification from MASC and the regional Emergency Measures Coorinator. We understand that existing flood assistance programs will remain in effect, unchanged. Those who are covered by TAP, who are permanent residents displaced by the flood, will not be forced out of that program. Any changes to security will be phased in meaning that present security will not end abruptly when the extension runs out.
