AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE

There is an important posting on the Association of Lake Manitoba Stakeholders webpage https://lakemanitobaassociation.wordpress.com/

If you follow the link to posts on the Federal Government website linked in the post you will discover a campaign by various Aboriginal groups against the channel project. What I am hearing from our members is that the consultations have been carried out and that it is time to get on with it! We need the peace of mind knowing that we have permanent protection from future flood events that have caused billions of dollars in rebuilding efforts and damage to our ecosystem. We also need the channel to manage Lake Manitoba water levels – ideally so that the water is allowed to rise in the recreation season and be lowered going into freeze up.

I urge you to make you to add your views on the Federal site and to use the attached contact list to communicate with our elected representatives. Closer to home it is interesting to note that Woodlands and St Laurent have not commented. As our reps they should give us voice on this important project.

This is your opportunity to have your voice heard and count with government.
