Message from West Interlate Watershed

May 13, 2013 //  by twinlakes//  Leave a Comment

Good afternoon,
Unfortunately I have some bad news.
As you all know, we applied for the Prairie Shelterbelt Program last year and asked them for:
–          50 000 Manitoba Maple;
–          10 000 Mixed Tree Willow;
–          10 000 Villosa Lilac;
–          30 000 Mixed Shrub Willow.

We have received the statement that the tree will be delivered on May 28, 2013 in next quantities:
–          Manitoba maple – 600;
–          Mixed Tree Willow – 1200;
–          Villosa lilac – 300.

In total: 2 100 trees(!)

It was impossible for us to distribute such a small amount of trees between all residents in our district.

The decision to have a draw and identify one municipality as a receiver was made at the All Member Meeting on May 2, 2013.

The draw took place at the end of the meeting in front of 25 members, the RM of Coldwell was announced as a recipient of 2100 trees.

We are still waiting for the reply from Tree Canada in regards to our request to initiate  the ReLeaf Program in our region.

If we have any more information we will let you know.

My apology for bringing this message to you.

Thank you,

Irina
