The Red Cross can provide a number of services to those impacted by a disaster.
For example they are currently distributing clean-up kits, conducting personal
assessments, and helping with specific needs not met by other assistance
programs. They can also assist by providing information about government programs
and with referrals to other aid agencies that can provide additional support.
They can guide people through all the processes involved.
- Recovery assistance
is based on an individual or household’s ability to address immediate basic
needs, rather than material losses. The help an individual or family
receives will vary based on the family composition and needs. Some additional assistance
that Red Cross may be able to provide includes:
– Clean-up Kits
– Emergency Food, and Clothing
– Personal Services and Health Care
– Emergency Lodging
– Home repairs and cleaning
– Household goods
– Children’s needs
– School needs
– Transportation
– Occupational needs
- Red Cross will not
duplicate assistance provided by other aid agencies, government programs or
insurance companies.
